Doxology and 1000 Amens

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Written by Thomas Ken in 1674, for the students and faculty of Winchester College. These words were the final verse in two hymns, Awake, My Soul, and With the Sun was the morning hymn, and All Praise To Thee, My God, This Night was for evening worship.

A bit more modern, here’s Doxology with 1000 Amens!

The Millenium Prayer

A friend sent me this version of The Lord’s Prayer… called The Millenium Prayer.

Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.

The Millenium Prayer was released in 1999 as a charity single by Cliff Richards. It was a benefit for Children’s Promise and was part of the Share Jesus International program. It is sung to the tune of Auld Lang Syne. Though a lot of radio stations wouldn’t play it, this song remains a favorite for many Christians. This was an impressive performance!

Prayer of St. Augustine to the Holy Spirit

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.
